Stunning Three Gallon Cake Crock with original Lid.  The Cake is of Baltimore, MD origin, probably Peter Herrmann, circa 1860.  It has brushed cobalt decoration of stemmed Clover on the front and reverse.  There are tab handles with cobalt highlights and curved lines below the handle.  The original lid has petals around the knob and brushed colbalt decor along the edge. 
 
The Cake has a few rim chips along the outer edge and a 3/4" surface line from the rim above one handle.  There is another surface line that does not go through along the gallonage mark.  The Lid has a nick to the underside of rim and small chips to underside flange.  The imperfections do not detract from the desirability of this
