Presenting a standout Six Gallon Cobalt Decorated Stoneware Jar, attributed to William “Leet” Hamilton of Greensboro, PA, circa 1860.

This semi-ovoid jar features crisp tooling along the midsection and shoulder, a rounded rim, and applied lug handles. The hand-drawn Cobalt design includes a flowing vine motif and a bold script “6”, accented by wavy vertical and horizontal stripes. Cobalt touches on the handles complete the look.

Measuring 16 3/8" tall, the jar shows some staining but remains in excellent, essentially as-made condition. There is one very small flake on the underside of an handle.

A strong, visually appealing example of mid-19th-century American stoneware that would delight any collector.
