Offered for your consideration is an outstanding Pickle Barrel made by the Burley Winter Pottery Company of Crooksville Ohio. The 19th century Jar has stenciled advertising that reads "DIXIE SWEET" the Best PICKLE in the World. The HEINZ CO. Lafayette, IND". The jar has a barrel shape with Bristol glaze, black lettering, and black stripes above and below the advertising. The crock stands 13" in height and 9" in diameter. There are no hairlines, cracks, or restorations noted. There's some minimal flakes on the rim and expected crazing. There's also a factory stress line and craze line that are typical anomalies and shown in photos above. Midwest Stoneware Pickle Barrels are highly collected and not easily found, especially in this condition.
