Monumental Twenty Gallon Cobalt Decorated Stoneware Jar bears the stencil "HAMILTON & JONES / AGENTS / GREENSBORO / PA." This circa 1875, cylindrical jar boasts a tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles.  It showcases a unique Hamilton & Jones "AGENTS" stenciling framed by a squared foliate border. Marked with a stenciled "20" above and below, this piece stands out for its exceptional size. A rare find, in remarkable condition, the jar displays as virtually perfect. There is very faint crazing to the right handle and minimal roughness to rim’s bottom edge on the reverse side.
