We are pleased to offer this outstanding Cobalt decorated jug believed to be made in Southwest Pennsylvania in the 1880's. This jug has Freehand Cobalt decoration featuring a brushed "5" accented with stripes and flourishes. The handle has cobalt accents and there is an impressed "5" gallonage mark below the spout. The glaze has typical factory imperfections with kiln burns and some minor crazing and roughness to the exterior. There are a couple desirable turkey droppings, as well. There are no further chips, cracks, or hairlines noted. This great jug would be perfect in any Stoneware collection.
